5 out of 5 stars Jabra SP700 Bluetooth headset   March 13, 2009

I bought this because I kept forgetting or couldn't be bothered to wear my bluetooth earpiece. I won't operate my mobile while driving because I've seen the fatal consequences resulting from someone who did!
The Jabra arrived quickly and took about 45 minutes to charge out of the box connected to a USB port on my PC. It comes with a 12 volt car charger with a lead which has a standard USB male connector at one end but a custom connector for the headset at the other. It attaches neatly to the sun visor and is fairly unobtrusive. It connects to the phone quickly and recognised the voice tags recorded on my phone a Sony Ericsson C902 without need to re record them through the unit. Calls are clear and loud enough. The only dislike I have is when using voice dialling the beep to prompt you for a name is very very loud and I cringe while waiting for it. There is no need for this and it cannot be turned down. I particularly like the ability to divert the call through the car hi-fi speakers using the Jabra's FM transmitter.
I bought the unit on Feb 9th. It is switched on for about an hour a day and I haven't had to recharge it yet. The unit also switches itself off when disconnected from the phone after about ten minutes.
Altogether I'm completely satisfied with the Jabra SP700. I've even gone and bought another for my Wife. Unfortunately though we didn't realize that her brand new Samsung U900 Soul doesn't support voice dialling which I think in this day and age is pretty poor.

5 out of 5 stars Best car handsfree I've ever used. Brilliant product. Looks good too.   November 25, 2008

Brilliant product - tried hard to find a handsfree for my car for my iphone - someone recommended this and I couldn't have chosen better. Worked straight away paired automatically, provides spoken alerts, such as incoming call from number ******, etc. Can use FM transmitter to play itunes and callers voice through your car stereo, which I have heard is good but I haven't used this as my car is ipod prepared and to be honest the sound quality of the speaker on the unit allows me to hear the voice on the phone wonderfully, better than the Nokia or Sony Erricson sets I have used previously. People also say I am very easy to hear at the other end too, with no echos or background noise. Brilliant product, that I would recommend to anyone, it was cheapest here on Amazon too.

I have now had the unit for a month. It is excellent subject to one minor gripe.
It pairs easily and sound quality for calls is clear on both sides.
I use mine to stream music from my phone to the car stereo. Again this works easily and the sound quality is excellent.
The minor gripe I have is that the FM switches itself off after a few minutes if it's not being used. Therefore if I'm not streaming music the FM will switch itself off. If a call then comes in the sound will only come through the unit and it would be a "faff" to try to switch the FM on mid call.

4 out of 5 stars Jabra SP700 - a good bluetooth option   May 2, 2009

So far I have been quite pleased with this device. Initial connection was quick and simple and subsequent pairings have been the same. In-call quality has been very good at both ends of the conversation even during motorway driving when in car noise is usually highest.

The only problem I have experienced is when using the advertised FM function to broadcast from the phone via the SP700 to your car radio. This is also quite easy to setup and even to change on the move. It works well in terms of being able to send both music and GPS directions to the radio but the problem i find is that, in this area at least, there is a lot of interference from broadcast radio. I have even tried changing the frequency that the SP700 transmits at, which works fine until you are on a long drive when you can guarantee that at some point you will pass through an area where you get a local radio station rather than the phone output.

Having said about the problem with the radio output, it is actually quite easy to resolve by simply turning off the FM transmission when interference occurs (1 simple button push is all that is required) and then just using the device as a speaker; which it is more than up to the task of.

I think that the FM output is more of a gimmick than an actual useful addition to the device, although I will confess that it was probably this 'gimmick' as much as any other that influenced my decision to buy this product.

Overall I am very happy with the SP700 and thoroughly recommend it as a bluetooth option.
